How to prepare Ragi sari for babies:
If you are about to start solid or semi-solid foods for babies, you will have many questions on your mind on how to start giving the food or what can we give.
It is suggested to give Porridges once the baby turns 6 months old. some moms will start giving porridge by 4th or 5th month itself if the baby is not getting enough milk
As a startup food, You can start with porridge with finely powdered and filtered ragi powder.
Once you start the ragi, you can slowly add little wheat and then rice, later dry fruits powder mix to it.
If you feel Giving only Ragi is cold to the baby, add little wheat to the Ragi porridges. Please remember to watch the baby's motion after giving porridge and increase/decrease the quantity
How to make the ragi powder for Porridge:
Ingredients: 2 cups of ragi
2-3 spoons of wheat(optional)
Wash the ragi and dry off in a neat cotton towel.
Slightly roast it in the pan in slim heat.
Once that is done, grind the ragi to a fine powder.
Take out a white cotton kerchief or cotton towel and you can filter the fine powder.
or if you have Jaradi to filter the powder, filter and collect the fine powder.
This powder you can store in an air-tight jar.
How to prepare Ragi sari:
Take a small bowl, add 1 or 2 spoons of ragi powder
Add milk or water to dilute the mixture to a watery consistency. Mix well so that no lumps are formed.
Switch on the stove. and on low flame, keep stirring the porridge
Once it thickens and the raw smell is gone, switch off.
Allow it cool or let it be in warm condition.
Then feed the baby with a small bowl and spoon.
